Home Church: LaFayette Alliance, NY & Hope Community - New Brighton, MN
Year joined SAM: 2004
Katie is originally from Upstate New York, which is where, at the age of six, she was saved. At the age of 11 she first felt the call to missions and to do her part of the great commission.
Going to Northwestern College in St. Paul, MN, Katie gained a great education in teaching and the Bible. Also in Minnesota, she gained a new home church and many new brothers and sisters in Christ.
Katie went to teach art at Santa Cruz Christian Learning Center in August 2004 with South America Mission as an art teacher for four and a half years. It was an amazing opportunity to minister to a unique group of people - missionary kids. God has given Katie a great love for the Bolivian people through renting an apartment from a Bolivian family, being very involved in a Bolivian church and an orphanage.
However since the early age of 11, she has felt called to GO to the ends of the earth to tell about Jesus - to isolated people groups. Now, through SAMAIR and your prayers and support, that is being made possible. There is a small village in eastern Bolivia, San Fernando, which has a few Christians and no full-time missionary or pastor. They desire to grow in their faith and reach the rest of their village. Katie plans to live among them, to encourage, teach and love them as Jesus does. There is no electricity, other than a personal generator and solar power, nor running water. But there are brothers and sisters in Christ and others yet to be saved who desire to know more about God.
