How do I become a missionary with South America Mission?
The first step is to complete a Preliminary
Information Form right here on our website. This
first step in the application process helps us begin
a relationship of seeking God’s purposes together
with you and your home congregation.
What denomination is SAM a part of?
South America Mission is an evangelical and interdenominational mission organization. We gladly work with individuals and churches who can affirm our Doctrinal Statement. Our missionaries come from many denominational backgrounds and agree to serve in Christian unity under the authority of the Bible.
Where does SAM’s funding come from?
South America Mission is a faith mission. We trust God to supply all the needs of the ministries he has entrusted to us through the gifts of his people. You can find out more about financial support on the Giving page.
What is SAM’s primary ministry focus?
We believe God has called us to strengthen his church to the praise of his glory in South America. Accordingly, we focus our efforts on the planting and strengthening of local churches. Making disciples who will be godly leaders in their congregations is one of the primary means of accomplishing this calling.
Who can be a missionary with South America Mission?
We need people of all kinds of backgrounds and skill sets in order to be faithful. The first thing we look for is spiritual maturity and calling. Specific training and experience required varies depending on the term and nature of each ministry assignment. You can read a helpful overview of missionary qualifications by downloading The Marks of a Missionary.
Do you have short term opportunities?
Absolutely! Long term members form the backbone of our missionary team, but we have many opportunities for shorter service. Our Categories of Service explanation gives a brief summary of the different opportunities.
