Home Church: First Baptist Church of Indian Rocks - Largo, FL
Year joined SAM: 2009
David grew up in the jungle of Peru. At 14 years old his family moved to Lima. He accepted Jesus as his savior at the age of 18 and proceeded to study diesel mechanics while attending a discipleship training school in Pucallpa. After that, he worked for Wycliffe in Lima doing general maintenance and auto upkeep. Amy felt called to missionary service while on a teen mission summer team to Australia in 1988. She studied international ministries at Moody Bible Institute. In 1995, she spent a summer teaching English in the jungle of Peru. David was there to take her to the guest home. On June 21, 1997, they married in Peru.
Returning stateside, they pursued education and waited on the Lord for where He would send them next. In 1996, they moved to Coshocton, Ohio working with MMS Aviation, a mission dedicated to preparing people and planes for worldwide mission service. In June 2009, David finished his A&P certification and the program at MMS, as well as being commissioned as appointees with South America Mission to serve with SAMAIR in Bolivia. David knew he wanted to use his mechanic skills and love of people to help bring the Gospel to South America.
Along the way, David and Amy have been blessed with three children, Isaiah (age 8), Lilyana (age 6), and Asher (age 2). They plan to move to Santa Cruz in October 2009 as the need is eminent. David's duties will include repair and maintenance of the ministry's two Cessnas. He will also get involved in other ministries in the community as the Lord leads. Amy will continue to home school their kids and, as she settles in, will watch for opportunities to build into the community as well. The Mozombite family is grateful to have the amazing opportunity to serve the Lord in Bolivia.
